Tech Signal

This Privacy Policy explains how Tech Signal collects, uses, and stores information when you use the Tech Signal iOS app. Tech Signal is designed to deliver a curated technology news experience with local personalization and optional notifications, while minimizing data collection.

Effective Date: March 3, 2026
Applies to: Tech Signal for iPhone

1. Information We Collect

Tech Signal does not require you to create an account and does not maintain a user profile on our servers. The app primarily stores preference and content-management data on your device.

  • App preferences such as default feed source, selected subreddits, selected languages, and display settings.
  • On-device saved items such as bookmarks, liked posts, muted authors, and reported content IDs.
  • Your notification preference if you enable new story alerts.
  • Standard network requests needed to load public content from supported news and developer sources.

2. What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require a username, password, or account registration.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. How We Use Information

  • To personalize the feed based on your source and content preferences.
  • To keep your saved bookmarks, likes, and moderation choices available on your device.
  • To send local device notifications only if you enable new story alerts.
  • To support app functionality such as hiding content you report or authors you mute.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Preference data and saved content are stored locally on your device. Tech Signal does not currently provide a cloud account or server-side sync for this information. In most cases, your stored app data remains on your device until you remove it in the app, reset settings, clear saved items, or delete the app.

5. Notifications

If you enable new story alerts, Tech Signal may request permission to display notifications on your device. These alerts are local notifications generated by the app. You can disable notifications at any time in the app or in your device settings.

6. Third-Party Content and External Links

Tech Signal displays content aggregated from third-party sources such as public APIs, RSS feeds, and external websites. When you open a story or link outside the app, the destination site or service may collect information under its own privacy policy. Tech Signal is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites or services.

7. Sharing of Information

Tech Signal does not share your locally stored preferences or saved content with a remote backend operated by us. Information may only be disclosed if required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process.

8. Children's Privacy

Tech Signal is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app in a way not intended by this policy, contact us and we will review the issue.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date on this page.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or Tech Signal's data practices, contact: feedback@techsignal.app

This page is written to match the current app behavior in this codebase: local preferences, local bookmarks, optional local notifications, and no in-app account system. If your data practices change before release, update this policy before publishing it.
